Chelsea Held to 2-2 Draw by Resurgent Everton
Blues' Unbeaten Run Ends at Eight Matches
Cole Palmer Nets First-Half Hat-Trick
Chelsea's impressive unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end at eight matches on Monday night as they were held to a 2-2 draw by a resurgent Everton side.
The Blues made a slow start to the match and Everton took advantage, missing a couple of decent opportunities in the opening 10 minutes. However, Chelsea gradually grew into the game and took the lead in the 20th minute through a stunning goal from Cole Palmer.
Palmer doubled Chelsea's lead just 10 minutes later with a clinical finish from the edge of the box. And he completed his hat-trick in the 35th minute with a powerful header from a corner.
However, Everton fought back admirably in the second half and pulled a goal back through Demarai Gray in the 55th minute. And they leveled the scores with just 10 minutes remaining through a fine strike from substitute Neal Maupay.
Despite the draw, Chelsea remain in fourth place in the Premier League table, three points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Everton, meanwhile, move up to 11th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
