Ysaora Thibus: French Foil Champion and Olympic Medalist

Early Life and Career

Ysaora Jennifer Thibus was born on August 22, 1991, in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, France. She began fencing at the age of seven and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a national champion at the age of 17.

International Success

Thibus made her Olympic debut at the 2012 London Games, where she finished ninth in the individual foil event. She continued to improve, winning a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championships and a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the team foil event. In 2022, Thibus achieved the pinnacle of her career by winning the individual gold medal at the World Fencing Championships in Cairo, Egypt. She also represented France at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she helped the team win a silver medal.
