Gamecocks visit Prisma Health children's hospital
South Carolina football team spreads holiday cheer ahead of Gator Bowl
Members of the South Carolina Gamecocks football team visited Prisma Health Children’s Hospital on Wednesday to spread some holiday cheer ahead of their Gator Bowl matchup against Notre Dame. The players, coaches and staff spent time talking to patients and their families, signing autographs and taking pictures.
‘A special day for our kids’
The visit was part of the team’s annual tradition of visiting the children’s hospital during the holiday season. For many of the patients, it was a chance to meet their favorite players and get a break from their hospital stay.
“This is a special day for our kids,” said Kim Stroman, child life specialist at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital. “It’s a chance for them to forget about their illness for a while and just be kids.”
The Gamecocks players said they were happy to visit the children and spread some holiday cheer.
“It’s always great to see the kids smile,” said senior wide receiver Josh Vann. “It’s a reminder of what’s really important in life.”
The Gamecocks will face Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl on December 30.
